About me
Dr. Cornelia Dunckel
Traditional Chinese Medicine
I am a physician trained in internal medicine with extensive clinical experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Professional background
I studied conventional medicine in Hamburg and completed my specialist training in general internal medicine in Switzerland.
In parallel, I trained extensively in Traditional Chinese Medicine and have worked for many years in both clinical and private practice settings.
A central part of my professional development was my work in the practice of Professor Johannes Greten in Heidelberg, where I treated patients from across Germany and gained profound clinical experience in classical Chinese Medicine.
Clinical and international experience
My clinical experience is grounded in many years of work in Germany, Switzerland and China.
During a six-month study period in Hangzhou, China, I deepened my understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine through direct clinical work in hospitals and under the guidance of experienced Chinese physicians.
In Heidelberg, I worked for three years in the practice of Professor Johannes Greten alongside a multidisciplinary medical team, treating a broad spectrum of acute and chronic conditions.
My years in Switzerland, including work in internal medicine, emergency and intensive care, further strengthened my diagnostic clarity and medical responsibility.
This combination allows me to bridge classical Western medicine with Traditional Chinese Medicine in a precise and responsible way.
My approach
In my work, I focus on understanding each person as an individual and on identifying underlying patterns rather than treating isolated symptoms.
My treatments are calm, precise and tailored to the specific needs of each patient, with the aim of supporting the body’s natural regulatory processes.
I value clarity, trust and a focused therapeutic setting, allowing space for sustainable change and long-term balance.
My motivation
I worked for three years in the practice of my teacher Professor Johannes Greten in Heidelberg and was a lecturer at the Heidelberg School of Chinese Medicine. During a six-month study visit to Hangzhou, China, I deepened my previous knowledge. I practice complementary natural healing methods to support people holistically in living their potential.
My aim is to support you with all my possibilities to bring your life force into flow and awaken your full potential. For more health, joy and abundance in life.
The following metaphor of a Daoist monk from the Wudang mountains, which a friend recently told me, symbolizes very well why I have continued my search for a medicine that includes everything over the past few years.
“Imagine a tree that is infected by insects.
Western medicine cuts off the leaves that are infected, which is a very quick method, but after a while the next leaves may be infected.
Chinese medicine treats the disease at its root, so that after a certain time all the leaves become healthy again.
Daoist medicine or various types of shamanism also try to support the tree in optimizing its internal and external environment.
The tree is seen as a whole and so is the human being.”
All three of these approaches are appropriate and effective at certain times. Together they form a unity in the world in which we live.
Doctors of the future
Waldo Trine wrote the following as early as 1900:
The time will come when the doctor's job will not be to treat the body, but to heal the mind, which in turn will heal the body.
In other words:
The right doctor will be a philosopher and teacher. His concern will be to keep people healthy and not to try to heal them once they have fallen ill. The true physician will not only treat the body with medicine, but rather the spirit with principles. He will teach people that cheerfulness, goodwill, noble deeds, love and kindness are just as beneficial to the body as they are to the mind and that a happy heart is the best medicine...
